ha, great question! i’m particularly interested in “adult” movies that do this (clearly telegraph the enemy and provide cathartic but clean punishment to them) for some reason my first thought is a chaotic favourite: jupiter ascending

The OG Twister movie is one of my favorite films of all time and the balance is why!!! I love how you talk about the balance: Jo is cool, has a backstory, but she’s not just a giant trauma metaphor. Bill has a wild past but we’re more invested in his present. YES. Love this!! I’ve been working on an essay about why it’s a perfect relationship movie & you’ve got my wheels turnin!
